DASLET: A Virtual Reality Journey into Smart Construction
Step onto a virtual construction site and experience the future of building technology! The DAta Sensing Learning EnvironmenT (DASLET) is an immersive virtual reality (VR)-based learning experience designed to introduce visitors to emerging data sensing technologies in construction and how they shape the industry. Visitors will explore a fully interactive 3D construction site where they will engage with hands-on learning modules, each demonstrating key technologies used to enhance safety, efficiency, and decision-making in construction projects. What Visitors Will Experience: Put on a VR headset and enter a smart construction site—walk around, interact with equipment, and see construction in action Learn about data sensing technologies Engage in embodied interaction—physically move, manipulate virtual objects, and simulate real construction tasks Each module will guide visitors through challenges like: Monitoring site safety using smart sensors to detect hazards. Optimizing construction processes by analyzing data patterns. Exploring real-world STEM applications through interactive problem-solving activities. Who Should Visit? This exhibit is designed for students, educators, parents, and anyone curious about the intersection of STEM and construction technology. Whether you're a middle school student discovering new career pathways or an industry professional interested in future workforce development, DASLET will provide an engaging and educational experience in an innovative, interactive way. Why It Matters: As the construction industry increasingly adopts smart technologies, there is a growing demand for a tech-savvy workforce. This exhibit highlights how VR and data sensing technologies can shape the future of construction while inspiring the next generation of engineers, builders, and innovators. Join us at Imagine RIT and take your first step into the world of smart construction and data-driven decision-making!
