Deepfakes: Dangers and Countermeasures

Location

Global Cybersecurity Institute (GCI/070) - 1705 (Experience Center)

Deepfakes are a product of using artificial intelligence to generate videos of people doing things they never did. In this exhibit, the visitor could learn a bit about the technology used to create deepfake videos and their different types. There will be a brief overview of the positives and the dangers of this technology to our society. The visitors could learn about the work that RIT is doing to counter the malicious uses of deepfakes. As a fun activity they could also have a deepfake of themselves generated live at the stall or play a game where they try to tell apart real from deepfake videos.
