Exploring Secure Connected Vehicles in a Live Demo

Location

Golisano Hall - Outside between Golisano Hall and Engineering Hall

Embark on a journey into the realm of emerging safe and intelligent transportation with our live demos of secure connected vehicles presented by PhD students from ESL Global Cybersecurity Institute (GCI). We showcase our cutting-edge research on secure vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communication, emphasizing authentication and real-world security challenges. Explore our interactive prototype testbed, featuring a variety of radio hardware, including commercial devices for use in real vehicles, attached to moving objects like rovers and drones. Engage with our experts for live demonstrations of the life-saving potential of connected vehicles, illustrating how intelligent vehicle communication aids in maneuvering, collision avoidance, and efficient traffic navigation. Our interactive graphical interface will enhance the experience by illustrating how drivers and vehicles can perceive each other’s movements and react accordingly using V2X information. Learn about the critical importance of security for connected vehicles as we demonstrate various attacks against V2X, simulating consequences from unnecessary traffic gridlock to collisions between vehicles. Weather permitting, we will also demonstrate a flying drone and a semi-autonomous all-terrain rover, showcasing V2X communication security in aerial scenarios and controlled environments in a fun and tangible manner. Our work offers more than an exhibit; it's a glimpse into a safer, interconnected automotive future where security is paramount in preventing collisions and ensuring road user safety.
