Flower City Sound

Location

Gordon Field House and Activities Center (GOR/024) - Main Floor

Rochester has a rich musical history that deserves to be preserved and cultivated. There’s live music all around the city every night, countless music hobbyists, budding creators, and great musicians with a lot of influence and reach. Unfortunately, much of the local music scene is held up by word of mouth, leaving many unsure of where to begin when trying to discover and market local music. Flower City Sound is a centralized archive of musicians and venues around Rochester. It’s an open source and crowd sourced website that allows the community to help maintain and grow Rochester’s local music scene. Flower City Sound also acts as an informational hub to learn how to get involved in upcoming events. Visitors of our exhibit can navigate through the website, view the curated band/musician/venue informational pages, explore the live events, as well as contribute to our crowdsource initiative by submitting their own entries through a live form. The team will also be presenting their contributions to this project in backend development, frontend development, research, design, and project management.
