Growing Prosthetic Device

Location

Institute Hall (INS/073) - Institute Hall

The project is an adjustable prosthetic device attachment, which is targeted towards growing children in the age range of 5 to 7 years. It is meant to secure onto the user's socket, and will have capabilities of movement around the elbow, as well as the ability to pick up objects. This device is able to adjust the length of the upper arm and forearm independently of each other, to match the length of the child's unaffected limb so the device doesn't have to be replaced as often as the child outgrows it. Visitors will be able to view an animation demonstrating the device's use, as well as be able to see the actual physical prototype.
