Implementation of Cobots
Many manufacturing companies that use packaging tasks require significant manual labor with the production and packaging of the goods provided. Thermo Fisher Scientific was looking for new concepts to replace the current state of repetitive operator work. The goal of the project was to reduce staffing requirements and ensure improved safety/ergonomics for the work center. With industrial and automation engineers from the site of operation, the design was tested with the product line to ensure efficient interfacing. The constraints for this project require the cobot, vision system, and work cell designs to fit within a current work space, while ensuring safety is maintained.
