Learn Birdwatching with Birding at RIT

Location

Thomas Gosnell Hall (GOS/008) - 1300 Lounge

Birding at RIT will be holding an exhibit to encourage visitors to try birdwatching and learn about the importance/benefits of the hobby. Our main exhibit will teach visitors the basics of bird identification for species local to Rochester, and the methods used in birdwatching to locate birds. We will have an interactive identification game to support this section. We also will discuss the benefits of birding focusing on mental health benefits and forming stronger communities. Along with touching on how birding supports natural environments. As part of our exhibit, we will be leading guided bird walks on campus every 30 minutes. From our exhibit, an experienced birder and member of the club eboard will lead visitors on a short walk to the RIT nature trails to show off some of the local species beginning to migrate through. The club will provide binoculars and checklists for visitors to use on the walks.
