Path Pursuit: A Physical Game Installation

Location

James E. Booth Hall (BOO/007A) - 1912

Path Pursuit is a senior capstone project by a group of students from the New Media Design and New Media Interactive Development degree programs. This game is a playable prototype of a proposed interactive installation for The Strong National Museum of Play's upcoming Beyond the Buzzer: Game Shows in America exhibit that will open in 2026. Inspired by game shows like Wipeout and and Hole in the Wall, Path Pursuit challenges two players to cooperate and move in-sync (despite being on opposite sides of a wall) by physically navigating controllers along a path and working together to dodge digital obstacles! Visitors can play our full game demo with a virtual mascot host (our beloved Bam Bastic), custom controllers, and adjustable height and difficulty settings. We also will have information available about our design processes, from our initial proposal to the Strong, visual direction, and technical execution.
