The RIT Archives Story Booth
The RIT Archives Story Booth is an interactive oral history booth for all members of the RIT community. The physical booth is built to provide the user a sense of comfort and privacy while they share their story. Inside the booth lies adaptable seating and a tech tower for the recording process. The user can interact with the monitor at the tech tower and choose prompts that they wish to address for the camera. Based on the preferences that the user has listed in their consent form, the booth will either capture a video or audio-only recording of the user sharing their story. This story will be automatically uploaded to the Archives' cloud for processing and, if permitted, distribution on the RIT oral history web page. The booth itself was a combined effort of MSD engineering students, balancing sleek design with robust functionality. The software is an elegant upgrade from the Zoom recordings of the original booth. The Story Booth team aims to give the user a more relaxing and convenient experience with the new and improved RIT Archives Story Booth.
