Robotic Chime Machine Showcase

Location

James E. Gleason Hall - 2271

This is a showcase of robotic Chime Machines created by student teams as part of a semester-long, design-build-test project in the first-year Mechanical Engineering course MECE.104 Engineering Design Tools. Students were given a closed set of materials and components--plywood, motors, solenoids, switches, etc.--and were tasked with designing and then building a device that would automatically play a selected tune with at least five notes played on cut lengths of standard, metal conduit (pipe). Machine control was achieved by use of an Arduino microcontroller, which the teams also had to program.
