SPEX Astrodynamics Radio Telescope
The RIT Space Exploration clubs radio telescope is our cosmic eavesdropper, tuned to observe the hydrogen line. By capturing the radio waves emitted by hydrogen we are able to generate a radio image of the sky above Rochester. This reveals structures in space that optical telescopes are unable to perceive. The radio telescope itself is approximately six feet in diameter and is able to be controlled through a web application. Visitors will be able to view previously generated radio images and use the web application to point the radio telescope at a desired point in the sky.
