The Trip is Right: Budget or Bust

Location

Objective: Planning for a dream vacation without knowing the prices upfront! Goal is to complete the trip without exceeding the set spending limit. There are multiple travel steps involved as players decide their ideal destination, travel mode (flight, cruise, train), accommodation (budget hotel, Airbnb, luxury, resorts), dining (casual, fast food, sit-down, fine dining), and many more. Each option varies in price, and players won’t know how much each option costs until after selection. After players go through all the steps, the final cost is calculated and compared to the grand budget total. If players stay under the spending limit, they get a prize! This interactive game allows visitors to actively participate and is fun for all ages. Through this game, participants can learn the importance of budgeting and financial literacy when dealing with unexpected costs and fees associated with trip planning. Players can experience real-world applications through hands-on activities with planning logistics and the trade-offs involved with selecting certain choices. Additionally, this exhibition educates participants on hospitality pricing, showcasing different travel/hospitality pricing models (budget vs. luxury) and how hotels, airlines, and restaurants can price their services based on demand and seasonality.
