Wheelchair Snow Skis

Location

Institute Hall (INS/073) - Institute Hall

This team is a mix of mechanical and biomedical engineers and we made wheelchair snow skis. They are designed to fit onto most wheelchair wheels and have an easy attachment mechanism. To put them on, wheel onto the ski and once your tire is in the middle of the platform, flip the lever up to bring the inner wall in, thus securing your wheel. To detach, flip the lever down and wheel off the platform. It's that easy! This project is intended to help people who use wheelchairs but still wish to safely traverse different environments, such as snowy or sandy ones.
