Post-Graduate Service is a long-term volunteer opportunity. While programs vary in length and location, they all trickle down to one mission: supporting communities facing adversity.

Local Opportunities

Rochester Youth Year is a year-long AmeriCorps VISTA program based in Rochester, NY. Members selected for this position indirectly support sustainable solutions to poverty by working with local non-profit organizations.

Urban Fellows is a 10-week summer program open to local college students and is based out of the University of Rochester. Selected members serve 30 hours per week with local organizations to expand initiatives that address urban issues and poverty in Rochester, NY.

Flower City AmeriCorps is a year-long AmeriCorps State and National program based in Rochester, NY. Members work with local non-profits and government agencies to address critical community needs through hands-on service and professional development training. Full-time and part-time positions are available.
National Opportunities
AmeriCorps NCCC (National Civilian Community Corps)
Application Deadline: End of February to serve by July
AmeriCorps NCCC members travel across the nation to take part in hands-on service projects with a team. These projects typically focus on energy conservation, environmental stewardship, infrastructure improvement, or natural disaster relief. A single term can last 10-12 months. This program also accepts team leaders to guide a team of 8-10 members.

AmeriCorps State and National pairs members with government funded organizations and programs that work to address critical community needs. These members engage in civic engagement through indirect service. Positions are located across the nation, including Rochester, NY.
AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America)

AmeriCorps VISTA members travel across the nation to work with organizations to fight poverty and ensure communities are sustainable. A single term is typically 12 months. Some placements within this program also accepts team leaders—whom have prior experience as a member—and/or a summer associate. Positions are located across the nation, including Rochester, NY.
International Opportunities

Peace Corps is a service opportunity for people who want to immerse themselves in a community abroad, working with local leaders to tackle pressing challenges. A typical placement is 24 months plus an additional 3 months of training. Positions are located around the world.
