Metaproject 03
In the fall of 2012, world-renowned, avant-garde accessories manufacturer Areaware challenged the third generation of Metaproject to explore the properties of wood as a primary material in object construction.
Students researched culturally specific historical and contemporary toys in pursuit of defining a universal toy. Each student selected a specific object typology and a cultural context, exploring how toys integrate into contemporary lifestyles. The final designs were realized primarily in 100% sustainable wood, promoting social responsibility and enhancing the objects to modern heirloom quality. Results of the collaboration were exhibited at Design Week in New York City in May, 2013.
