Golisano College celebrates 10th anniversary today

College is ranked among the best options for computer game design and development

The Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences will celebrate its 10th anniversary 5–6:30 p.m. April 21 in the atrium of Golisano Hall.

In 2001, Al Simone was RIT president, the newest operating system was Windows XP and RIT announced the formation of the B. Thomas Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences.

Ten years later, the college has grown to offer eight undergraduate degree programs and is ranked among the best options for computer game design and development, according to The Princeton Review. Additionally, the college now offers nine master’s degree programs and a doctoral program.

“We invite everyone at RIT as well as alumni, industry contacts and friends of the college to network while we take a look back at all of our accomplishments over the past 10 years,” says Matt DeMayo, college communications coordinator.

The celebration will include a showcase of student projects, free food, drinks, music, raffles and freebies.

The Golisano College is one of the largest and most comprehensive computing colleges in the nation. B. Thomas Golisano, founder and chairman of Paychex Inc., helped launch the college with a gift of $14 million. It remains the largest gift to the university from an individual in RIT history.
