University Gallery presents ‘Connections’

The Arena Art Group shares its work

“Atemito” by RIT faculty member Stuart Chait

The University Gallery at RIT is hosting its latest exhibition, “Connections,” by the Arena Art Group. The show is free and open to the public, and runs through May 18. A reception will be held at the gallery from 5 to 7 p.m. March 21.

The exhibition is aptly named—numerous members of the Arena Art Group have RIT connections, as many of them are current or retired faculty, and alumni. The group strives to foster community interest in exploratory art forms through the exhibitions of its members’ works and to maintain an active, viable and professional arts presence. The show consists of 31 pieces by 27 artists.

“The work in the ‘Connections’ exhibition represents a wide variety of mediums and styles,” says Jessica Erickson, manager of the University Gallery. “It is interesting to see how the pieces work together and create relationships.”

University Gallery is located in James E. Booth Hall, adjacent to RIT’s Vignelli Center for Design Studies—home to the entire archive of graphic and product designs by renowned international designers Massimo and Lella Vignelli. Regular gallery hours are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The gallery is open in correlation with RIT’s Academic Calendar. Parking is available in F Lot. For more information, contact Erickson, the gallery manager, at 585-475-2404 or jleugs@rit.edu.
