The National Technical Institute for the Deaf (NTID), established in 1968 at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), is the world's largest technological college for students who are deaf or hard of hearing. NTID provides an international model for educating and preparing deaf students for technology-related careers. Its unique placement as one of the nine colleges of RIT allows more than 1,500 deaf and hard-of-hearing students to study and live with nearly 17,600 hearing students on a 1,500-acre campus.
