Presented by Vincent Serravallo, Ph.D.--Associate Professor of Sociology and Anthropology, Rochester Institute of Technology
A joint effort of the Dryden Theatre and the Rochester Labor Council, the Rochester Labor Film Series presents motion pictures celebrating workers around the world. The first film program of this kind in the nation, it shows dramas, comedies, current documentaries, and--for the first time--shorts, on important issues relating to work and workers, especially aspects of work often marginalized or absent in dominant commercial media. Films from around the world are selected to inform, provoke, and inspire. From his sociologist's perspective, Dr. Serravallo will highlight the upcoming September/October Friday night screenings at the Dryden that depict the discrimination, globalization, and immigration struggles faced by blue-, white-, and pink-collar workers. If you come in-person to the Osher building for this talk, you can pick up complimentary tickets for an upcoming screening.
