This presentation will review the little-known history of eugenics in the United States in the late 19th and early 20th centuries as well as the influence of eugenics on social programs to address problems of urbanization and mass immigration and the roots of eugenic policies in white supremacist thinking and xenophobia. Did you know there was collaboration between eugenicists in the US and Nazi Germany? What is the lingering influence of eugenics in the US today?
