Presented by Michael Richmond, Ph.D.--Professor, School of Physics and Astronomy,
College of Science, Rochester Institute of Technology
What have we learned about planets orbiting other stars? What is their size, location, and potential to support life? Dr. Richmond will share his particular interest in exoplanets after his return to RIT this winter from study in Japan where he worked with astronomers to build a special wide-field astronomical camera. As director of the RIT Observatory, he has spent quite a few nights there measuring variable stars and supernovae. He also is RIT's liaison to the telescope at Kitt Peak National Observatory in Arizona.
