Tourists go to New York City to see Tiffany glass. They go even further south to discover Harriet Tubman. Come instead with Osher to Auburn, NY this June and see both! On the Auburn Summer Seminar Trip, you will lunch at the Springside Inn with its Finger Lakes view, surround yourself with Tiffany treasures at the Willard Memorial Chapel, immerse yourself in Harriet Tubman’s courageous life as a military scout and rescuer of slaves in South Carolina, and also visit the home of Francis Seward, a white fellow female agitator and wife of Lincoln’s Secretary of State. Sign up early to choose the Seward House’s specialty tour, “Speaking for Themselves: The Women of the Seward Family.” All travelers will get a Tubman and a Seward tour, an Organ Concert at the Willard Chapel, and a seat in the Chapel surrounded by the recently rescued and last intact interior designed by Louis Comfort Tiffany: the chandeliers, stain-glass, ceilings, pews, and floor. All that, and you'll be home in time for dinner.
Our lunch will be held at the Springside Restaurant. It will include a choice of three entrees:
- Chicken Farce (Boneless Breast stuffed with our house made stuffing)
- Roast Sirloin of Beef with Mushroom Sauce
- Baked Haddock with Lemon Butter
Meal choices include garden salad, fresh baked rolls and butter, fresh vegetables, mashed potatoes, dessert of the day, coffee or tea. If you have special dietary needs, please indicate so on the registration questionnaire.
