Receive Mini Grants Toward Your School's PLTW Program
RIT partner schools receive $20 for each student who registers for RIT college credit. These mini grants can be used towards the school’s PLTW program.
Student tallies are compiled after January by RIT’s PLTW staff. New school partners will be contacted to submit a W-9 form prior to payment.
In the following fall, the primary PLTW contacts from certified schools will receive a check reflecting the $20 per registered student (between January and December).
Partner Responsibilities
Prior to Course Start
- Understand the specific roles and responsibilities within the PLTW LMS (rostering students, updating teacher information).
- Schedule PLTW courses to best fit the needs and resources of the students and the school.
- Understand the college credit opportunities with RIT and the steps to receive credit.
During and After Course Start
- Administer the End of Course Assessment exam. Once graded, send grades from the end of End of Course (EoC) exam score to RIT.
- Notify qualifying students and parents of college credit opportunities.
- Eligibility requirements for RIT Undergraduate College Credit are 1) Minimum 85% final class average in PLTW course and 2) Minimum PLTW End of Course exam score.
- Submit qualifying scores to RIT using the Grade Report Template by July 1.
- If your school is paying the registration fee for your students, please contact RIT as there is a different process specific to these registrations.
Grading
The transcripted grade received from RIT is based solely on the End of Course (EoC) exam score a student receives on the PLTW End of Course exam.
It is important for teachers to provide the End of Course exam score to students so that they can make an informed decision as their college credit grade could affect their undergraduate GPA.
Assigning Grades
The RIT letter grade assigned to a student’s End of Course Assessment exam varies by course. Each course has its own grading key.
Grade Report Template
When submitting qualifying grades to RIT's PLTW office, teachers must submit using the grade report template.
