Rochester’s top women business leaders featured at RIT leadership conference

Rochester Institute of Technology’s Saunders College of Business hosts the 11th annual Power Your Potential Women’s Conference on Friday, Feb. 28, in RIT’s Louise Slaughter Hall. The conference theme this year is “Embracing Our Voice and Leading Boldly,” and will be led by Karen Magnuson, Saunders College Executive in Residence and former executive editor at Rochester’s Democrat and Chronicle. The half-day conference, which is open to the community, celebrates National Women’s History Month and invites area businesswomen to gain insights from their peers and engage in educational activities geared toward helping women succeed.

The conference keynote presentation will be given by Melisza Campos, marketing manager for Wegmans Food Markets. The keynote address is scheduled for 8:30 a.m., during the conference that runs from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

In addition, several educational sessions and a panel discussion on “Finding Your Voice in the Workplace and Community Today” will be hosted by executives representing a variety of industries. The event also includes a networking lunch where participants can create their own vision boards for personal success and explore the many graduate education programs available through Saunders College, including service leadership and innovation, MBA and human resource development, among others.

Along with this conference, Saunders also hosts a Women Leading Business event, Women in Business student club, and a newly launched Leadership Academy that bridges business and technology and encourages students to understand their own strengths, weaknesses, goals, and values, while developing the critical professional skills that are needed to succeed in the field. 

Saunders College Dean Jacqueline Mozrall says that the college is dedicated to meeting the growing demand for industry leaders with expertise in business and technology. “Not only do we present powerful professional development and networking opportunities with business professionals, but there is also great value in empowering our students to become leaders in the classroom and the board room, find their voices, use their talents in business and technology, and discover new ways of thinking and doing.”
