Hi everyone! My name is Alex Shuron, and I am currently a 4th Year Mechanical Engineering student from Syracuse, NY, and a member of Sigma Chi on campus. Currently, I serve as the President of the RIT Student Government. I have also been involved as President of my own chapter, Vice President of Judicial Affairs for IFC, and Director of Operations for Student Government. When I am not on campus and have free time, I love to watch movies at local theaters and am always looking for new music to listen to!

At RIT, I have been deeply involved in both Greek Life and the campus at large. From President of my chapter, to VP Judicial Affairs of IFC, SG Cabinet, and now the Student Government President. From these experiences, I am confident that I have the necessary knowledge and skills to benefit the Greek Community. RIT Partnership: As President of Student Government, I have developed relationships with many different offices across campus outside of FSL; Student Affairs, Marketing, FMS, and even individuals like the incoming RIT President Bill Sanders. These connections can allow me to quickly identify partners across campus to help on initiatives to enhance the community. Academic Excellence: Greeks are great at juggling the commitment to our chapters and the campus, in addition to excelling in our academics. I would work with each of the councils to help enhance existing academic plans to support our chapters. I would work alongside Campus Life to revive Order of Omega and Gamma Sigma Alpha Honor Society chapters. This can provide opportunities for the Greek community to be recognized for their work in areas like academics and volunteerism and also the opportunity for scholarships Greek Visibility: I am committed to ensuring the completion of the Greek community display in the campus center that all chapters are represented properly. In addition, I would plan to work with Campus Aesthetics and our councils to try and find insignia that could be placed on Greek Lawn. Having something physical to show our presence and impact to younger members of the student body could help increase awareness of Greek life for those who may be uncertain about joining. Greek Representative Student Organization: With discussions of a Greek RSO transitioning this semester, I believe I have the best knowledge to lead it through its first year. My primary focus would be to set up the support system that the RSO would provide to councils and member chapters. One support can be through a secretary position that can help maintain a calendar of all chapter events across councils, in addition to providing support in chapters putting on large scale events. If the RSO is given an office space similar, setting that space up to provide a community hub for Greeks as well as being able to be used for events would allow our chapters to come together and have a designated spot on campus.
