Bio

Pronouns: She/Her/Hers

My name is Alice Cauchi, I am a 4th year Museum Studies and Computer Science double major from Dingmans Ferry, PA. Through my time here at RIT, I have discovered my love for educational and historical spaces as well as computing and I have been able to pursue both of things through my multidisciplinary course work. On campus, I participate in Supplemental Instruction, where I was an instructor and a Program Assistant, the Computer Science Ambassadors, and during my third year, I was a part of the MISHA team, which did research that collaborated with the Museum Studies and Imaging Science departments.

Hey all, my name is Alice Cauchi, I am a 4th year Museum Studies and Computer Science double major, and I would like to be the next CoLA Senator because I think the College of Liberal Arts houses a mosaic of people whose diverse interests are powerful and deserve to be represented.     Key Issues and Goals:   Improving Career Preparation Resources

•        Goal: Establish more prominent career/co-op preparation

o        Collaborate with multiple faculties to present their unique career experiences to students and increase the number of career preparation events held.

o        Communicate with resources outside of RIT (companies that hire CoLA students) to give presentations about career preparation.

o        Increase networking opportunities with Alumni.   Extending CoLA Relationship with Other Colleges

•        Goal: Create a stronger multidisciplinary relationship with the other RIT colleges

o        Plan events with other colleges that combine both liberal arts and other outside majors to show the ways that CoLA majors are utilized in other fields.   Enhancing Student Life

 •        Goal: Foster a community of student life by organizing events and creating platforms for student feedback

o        Gain ideas from students about the events that they would like to see in CoLA.

o        Hold more consistent events, with help from students, which bring the community together.   Advocacy for Mental Health in CoLA:

•        Goal: Increase knowledge about mental health tools on campus and promote wellness for CoLA students

o        Partner with RIT mental health/student resources such as CAPS and Ombuds to provide information to students about resources to students.   o        Increase number of mindfulness and wellness events held to allow students a place to destress.    As a previous Program Assistant for the Supplemental Instruction program, I have successfully organized events and used student feedback to enhance the experience of my peers within the program. My experience as a multidisciplinary student allows me to adopt a unique perspective on how to represent CoLA at RIT and has effectively prepared me to collaborate with different students and faculty.   Together we can make the RIT College of Liberal Arts an environment that truly represents and advocates for all the different students and majors that are within it.
