Hi KGCOE! My name is Charlie Gagliardo. I am a fourth-year mechanical engineering student with an aerospace option. Since coming to RIT as a transfer student from Monroe Community College, I have been involved in multiple organizations. I have been a member of Launch Initiative serving as a technical lead, Pi Tau Sigma (the national honor society for mechanical engineers) as Vice President, and I was a Teaching Assistant. Outside of academics, I love to play intramural sports, specifically soccer. I am involved with Greek Life, being a member of Theta Chi Fraternity, where I have held the position of Academic Chair and Secretary. RIT has provided me with so many opportunities. I have been extremely fortunate to co-op two times at Lockheed Martin, travel halfway across the country to attend a national convention, and most importantly make connections that will last a lifetime. The reason I chose to come to RIT is the strong emphasis on co-ops. But the past three years being a student in KGCOE has given me so much more. KGCOE has made such a positive impact on my life, and I want to give back as your KGCOE senator.

Bridging Minds: Transforming KGCOE Mental Health Matters: Being an engineering major is a grueling task in itself but let’s not forget to take care of ourselves first. I am committed to fostering a culture that prioritizes mental well-being. Life (not just school) can be demanding, and it's crucial that we create an environment where students feel supported. I will advocate for increased mental health resources, including more readily available counseling services, workshops, and awareness campaigns. If we want to succeed during our time at RIT and beyond, we need to break the stigma surrounding mental health. Let’s build a community where every engineer can thrive. Industry-Research Synergy: The future of engineering lies at the intersection of industry and research. I will work to enhance collaboration between our college and industry partners, creating more internship/co-op opportunities, networking events, lab tours, and company tours. I want to make research opportunities readily accessible by increasing awareness of them, through open houses, information packets, and faculty led information sessions. By bridging our studies with real-world applications, we ensure our education is not only rigorous but also relevant to the ever-changing field. By electing me as your KGCOE Senator, you are choosing a representative dedicated to enhancing the overall experience of our engineering community. Together, we can build KGCOE to not only produce top-notch professionals but also prioritize the mental well-being of every student. Let's bridge the gap between industry and research while enabling a supportive and inclusive environment.
