I am excited to announce my candidacy for the position of Saunders College of Business (SCB) Senator. As a fellow student who is enthusiastic about enhancing our community, I believe I have the passion, knowledge, and expertise to represent you in the most effective way possible. After taking the time to interview multiple Saunders students, I believe that as Senator I can help foster and improve the sense of community, support, and opportunities that are available at Saunders, to ultimately make our time here the very best it can be. One of my top priorities after listening to student needs would be to organize a career fair tailored to Saunders students. The campus-wide fair often focuses on engineering roles, with limited options for business majors. Given the co-op requirement, I know the challenges and stress that can come with finding the right opportunities. The goal would be to invite employers focusing on hiring Saunders students, ensuring optimal match and success for our students. In addition, I believe that we could work on communicating our preferences for classroom seating with the administration. As your SCB senator, I would prioritize effectively communicating our comments and ideas with members of the administration and am committed to working with them to find solutions that benefit all Saunders students. Lastly, I am deeply passionate about fostering a greater connection between Saunders students and other majors. I know that as Saunders students we enjoy having pizza in the pit, including other students in activities like that would give us all a chance to enjoy and benefit from the diversity of the student body and their interests at RIT. As busy students and professionals, meeting new friends from other majors can be tough, but I have personally benefited from being able to cultivate and maintain friendships with students throughout the school and want to help create that same opportunity for all students. Saunders has many strengths - supportive faculty, new facilities, active clubs, and abundant opportunities. My role as SCB senator would be to ensure that Saunders students can always benefit from and contribute to RIT’s continued growth and success. As a first-generation minority student, Saunders is my community and home at RIT. With my background and dedication, I believe that I am well-suited for SCB Senator. If chosen, I will work tirelessly to represent YOU and make sure your voice is heard and accounted for every time.
