Imagine RIT named favorite family-friendly fest
Kids Out and About poll selects innovation and creativity festival
For the second year in a row, Rochester Institute of Technology’s Imagine RIT: Innovation and Creativity Festival has been voted “Favorite Family-Friendly Festival” by Kids Out and About.
“One of the reasons I love seeing how well Imagine RIT does in our annual survey is that its main goal is the same as KidsOutAndAbout.com’s: Preparing our kids for the future by exposing them to a wide variety of experiences so they can find out what engages and excites them,” said Debra Ross, publisher of Kids Out and About.
The festival finished nearly 500 votes ahead of the second-place winner in the category, Rochester’s Lilac Festival. Fairport Canal Days finished in third, the Sterling Renaissance Festival was fourth, followed by the Hilton Apple Festival, Corn Hill Arts Festival and the Rochester Children’s Book Festival.
Kids Out and About started in Rochester and operates in seven regions of the country as an online resource for parents and grandparents who want to know what they can do with their kids in the community.
The Imagine RIT: Innovation and Creativity Festival is a campus-wide event that showcases the innovative and creative spirit of RIT students, faculty and staff. Visitors experience the breadth and depth of RIT through interactive presentations, hands-on demonstrations, exhibitions, and research projects set up throughout campus. Multiple performance stages with live music and entertainment are also a hit with visitors of all ages. Held annually each spring, Imagine RIT is the kickoff to Rochester’s rich festival season.
Next year’s festival will be held May 6, 2017.
