Performing Artists Concert Series returns March 7

Kathryn Cowdrick, associate professor of voice at the Eastman School of Music, performs Lee Hoiby’s Bon Appétit, an operatic spoof of The French Chef, Julia Child’s notable TV program.

Operatic arias, duets, a little swing and a spoof of Julia Child are all part of Rochester Institute of Technology’s third installment of the Performing Artists Concert Series for its 19th season. “Wonderful Voices” features talents from the Eastman School of Music at 8 p.m. March 7 in Ingle Auditorium, Student Alumni Union.

Eastman School of Music graduate students Adelaide Boedecker and Keeley Futterer, sopranos; Nadia Fayad, mezzo-soprano; and Matthew Valverde, tenor, will sing a medley of operatic arias and duets.

Kathryn Cowdrick, an associate professor of voice at the Eastman School of Music, will perform Lee Hoiby’s Bon Appétit, an operatic spoof of The French Chef, Julia Child’s notable TV program. Cowdrick, mezzo-soprano, performed this work for Child’s 2007 induction into the National Women’s Hall of Fame and can be expected to enthusiastically spatter the stage with flour and eggs.

Piano accompanist for the program will be Ksenia Stichman.
