RIT Community Invited to Participate in NCAA Frozen Four Book Drive

Spectators at the Division I Frozen Four tournament in Detroit this week are being encouraged to help support public schools in that city by bringing books to Ford Field. Administrators at Rochester Institute of Technology are hopeful that spirit of giving will extend onto our campus.

Students, faculty, staff and campus visitors watching the RIT Tigers play in the Frozen Four tournament are being asked to bring new or gently used books to drop boxes at one of the four entrances to the Gordon Field House and Activities Center or the Leadership Institute and Community Service Center in the Campus Center. The books should be appropriate for students in grades Pre-K through 6 and will be donated to John Williams School No. 5, N. Plymouth Ave., Rochester.

“The RIT community has always been interested in helping our community wherever there is a need,” says Phyllis Walker, assistant director of RIT’s Community Service Center. “This book drive is a great way to celebrate the amazing accomplishments of our men’s hockey team by making a difference in the lives of young people in our community. Our dedicated athletes volunteer each week at John Williams School, so we thought it would be a nice way to continue to promote their literacy program.”
