The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) has selected the New York State Pollution Prevention Institute (NYSP2I) to be the next steward of its Small Business Environmental Assistance Program (SBEAP).

While the pressure to publish starts early in an academic’s career, RIT doctoral student Israa Thiab has a strategy to get the work done without the anxiety. Thiab, a student in the Golisano Institute for Sustainability, is working on her first journal article, using techniques she learned at a writing retreat sponsored by RIT’s Graduate School.

Chelsea R. Gulliver was recently named economic and policy analyst at RIT’s Golisano Institute for Sustainability (GIS).

A national institute led in part by RIT marked five years of accelerating the transition to a circular economy in the United States in 2022. The REMADE Institute, founded in 2017 by the U.S. Department of Energy with an initial investment of $140 million, has grown to nearly 160 current members.

A partnership agreement between RIT’s Golisano Institute for Sustainability and Wells College will enable students from the Aurora, N.Y., school to enroll in RIT’s sustainable systems MS degree program.

A recent collaboration between GIS and MICROrganic Technologies has brought a highly energy-efficient, sustainable system for treating wastewater closer to market.

A comprehensive master planning process for the RIT campus that began in 2020 has resulted in a long-term, conceptual layout that will guide future growth and development across the university’s 1,300 acres over the next 25 to 50 years. The steering committee is now inviting final comments to the campus master plan during a review period that runs through Dec. 23, 2022.

A team of researchers from RIT was recently awarded a grant to develop curricular modules on infrastructure improvement and resilience that introduce students to public and private sector standards, including industry standards.
