Let's Talk about Money: Being Your Own Informed Advocate | Early Spring 2019
Let's Talk about Money: Being Your Own Informed Advocate
All full-time faculty members are invited to attend an interactive workshop titled “Let’s Talk about Money: Understanding RIT Pay Practices” where participants are shown salary-related resources available today and explore how to shape future thinking and discussions regarding salary. This is a hands-on, 90-minute session where participants will ideally understand RIT’s compensation philosophy and salary practices (such as factors affecting faculty salary, compa-ratio/position to market, and moving pay to market). Learning objectives also include finding your salary-related information in Oracle and general salary-related information on the HR website. Facilitators are Professors Margaret Bailey (KGCOE) and Carol Marchetti (COS/Math) from the AdvanceRIT Leadership Team, as well as Judy Bender and Christina Ross from RIT Human Resources.
Over 30 individuals attended this workshop in Spring 2018, and the survey responses were positive. When participants were asked what they might do differently as a result of participating in the session, they responded with comments such as “become a better advocate for myself and others” and “be willing to have a conversation with my chair and dean.” The session encouraged great conversation and brought some of RIT’s pay practices to the surface.
