CREW Connections: Research Connections (March 4th) & Considering a Terminal Degree Panel (April 16th)
CREW connections provides an informal forum for women faculty to make connections and find resources at RIT, particularly for new women faculty. These sessions provide an opportunity for networking, skill-building, and developing strategies for career success. The events are facilitated by the Council for the Representation & Engagement of Women Faculty (CREW).
Research Connections (March 4th at 9:30-10:30AM): Research Connections will be interactive session where faculty will be asked to bring their research skills to share with other attendees, sparking potential interdisciplinary research connections. Life Connections (February 5th): Life Connections was an opportunity for faculty new to the Rochester area (and even those who are not so new to the area) to get recommendations for personal resources. Faculty who have lived in Rochester for some time were encouraged to attend to share their resources and meet RIT’s newer faculty members. Thirteen women met and shared resources in the Rochester area. These included favorite places to take a hike, dentists, doctors and grocery stores, to name a few. Many of the attendees are faculty who have been at RIT less than two years.
Considering a Terminal Degree? (April 6th): This will be apanel session co-hosted by Faculty Career Development Services and AdvanceRIT. It will feature several faculty who have obtained their terminal degress while working full time as faculty at RIT. They will provide information about how they selected their program, what they wished they had known before they started on the endeavor and what it was like balancing being a student and a professor at the same time.
