Note: In June 2019, Charles (Chazz) ’94 (CIAS) and Chris (Mino) ’94, MST ’95 Bjanes visited the RIT campus again after many years, to celebrate a 25 year graduation anniversary. Upon entering the residence hall tunnels, they were excited to see that Wolverine still existed! They fondly remember painting this mural as freshmen with fellow classmates, Jen Pogorzola ’94 (CIAS), Josh Maruska ’95 (CIAS), Erik Nielsen, and Phil Hoff ’94 (CIAS), with a shout-out to Derick Burns ’94 (CIAS). Thank you, RIT, for keeping this tradition alive.

Note: Ed Shanshala ’87 (COS), MS ’00 (CAST) has been appointed by the New Hampshire Commissioner of Health and Human Services to serve on two state commissions. The first is the State Health Assessment (SHA) and the State Health Improvement Plan (SHIP) Advisory Council last convened in 2013. The second is the Working Group on the Plan Preparation of a Medicaid Adult Dental Benefit. Ed writes "It is a privilege and a pleasure to bring his education and experience to the table in creating future health and wellness opportunities for the residents of New Hampshire."

Note: Andrea Shaver 17 (CAD) and Andrew Carpenter 17 (GCCIS) were married on September 28, 2019 in Telluride, CO. They met in Student Government (SG) their second year at RIT. Twenty RIT and SG alum were in attendance to celebrate, including the Best Man, Jumoke Ridley ’17, two bridesmaids, Claire Fleming ’17 and Rebekah Geller ’17 and ’18, and Kathy Hall ’69, who was the SG office manager when Andrea and Andrew met.

Westborough HS Boys Varsity soccer (in white) introduced at Central MA district semi-final.

Note: In addition to operations management and helping companies present to investors, Thomas Newberry ’82 (KGCOE) has the honor of coaching a great bunch of boys in the Westborough (MA) varsity soccer program. They created a Cinderella season in earning a berth in the district semi-finals game. He's proud of their accomplishments. It’s like having a second family.

Kyle David Bates

Name: Kyle Bates

Class Year(s): 1997

Note: An alumnus of RIT Ambulance and a graduate of the Biomedical Photographic Communications Program, Kyle Bates ’97 (CIAS) assumed the position of Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County this past August (2019). Here he has taken on the role of Paramedic Program Director, which is 1 of 13 accredited bachelor degree programs in the United States. Prior to this, Kyle was an educational designer and developer for the Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute, University of Maryland, College Park. Here he brought a different approach to the development and delivery of continuing education to paramedics as well as instructors. Kyle hopes to utilize this opportunity at UMBC to further his desire to create, develop, deliver, and research educational delivery models for EMS students.

Note: In September 2019, Stacy Lake ’05 (SCB), MBA ’07 (SCB) started in a new role as Corporate Communications Manager for Bergmann, a full-service architecture, engineering, and planning firm headquartered in Rochester. Bergmann’s CEO, Pietro Giovenco ’89 (SCB) MBA ’12 (SCB), is also an RIT/Saunders graduate. Stacy has enjoyed continuing to meet fellow RIT alumni during her first months with the firm.
