JoAnne Ryan

President & CEO, Ronald McDonald House Charities
JoAnne Ryan serves as the President and CEO of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Rochester, NY (RMHCR). With a clinical background in nursing, JoAnne brings a unique blend of medical expertise and leadership to her role, having transitioned seamlessly from clinician to healthcare administrator and now esteemed nonprofit leader. Under her guidance, RMHCR has become an essential lifeline for families in the region, providing critical support services such as lodging, transportation, and meals—recognizing that when a child is sick, the entire family is affected.
A proud alumna of Rochester Institute of Technology, JoAnne earned her Master of Science in Health Systems Administration. Her distinguished career has earned her numerous accolades, including induction into the MCC Hall of Fame and recognition as an Athena International Award finalist. She has also been honored as a Woman of Excellence and recently received the 2023 ICON Award, the 2024 Circle of Excellence honor, and was named a 2024 Woman of Distinction by Assembly member Jen Lunsford.
JoAnne has served on community boards and continues to contribute her expertise to several key organizations. She is currently a member of The Golisano Children’s Hospital Board, the UR Medicine Homecare Foundation Board, the RIT Health Systems Advisory Board, the RIT National Council, and the Rochester Rotary Board. Additionally, JoAnne is a member of one of the Ronald McDonald House Charities Global Advisory Teams. She also served as a dedicated mentor in RIT’s Women of Color, Honor and Ambition (WOCHA) program, where she found great joy in nurturing leadership skills and academic success among young women. JoAnne resides in Pittsford with her husband, Dr. Stephen Ryan.
