Bob Spina opens Dean’s Alumni Speaker Series
Electrical engineering graduate to discuss interactive music technologies
The 2012–2013 Kate Gleason College of Engineering Dean’s Alumni Speaker series opens Sept. 27 with alumnus Bob Spina ’89. He will present “Big Data Meets Music Intelligence” at 1 p.m. in Xerox Auditorium.
Spina has more than 25 years of experience in high technology with Fortune 500 firms and Boston-area start-ups. Most recently he was the vice president of engineering at The Echo Nest, a music intelligence firm. Spina will talk about trends in music intelligence platforms and how this technology helps developers build “smart” music applications.
Prior to joining The Echo Nest, Spina was a founder and vice president of engineering at RAMP, a software-service provider for multimedia content optimization. He has held senior positions at Raytheon BBN Technologies, Sonexis, Integral Access, 3Com Corp. and NBX Corp. Spina received a doctorate in electrical and computer engineering from SUNY Buffalo.
The Dean’s Alumni Speaker Series is sponsored by the Kate Gleason College of Engineering and RIT’s Office of Development. Contact Donna Benier at dlbdar@rit.edu or 585-475-4045 for more information.
