Global Crossing Executive Named Honorary Host for RITz Black Tie Dinner

Jeff Rowoth has been named the honorary master of ceremonies for the 25th Annual Puttin’ on the RITz Black Tie Dinner. The annual dinner and fundraising event is being held on March 27 at the Radisson Riverside Hotel, 120 Main St.

Each year, the dinner features Rochester Institute of Technology alumni from the School of Hospitality and Service Management, event hosts. Rowoth, currently senior manager of fleet and travel services at Global Crossing, graduated from RIT with a bachelor’s degree in hotel management in 1981 and a master’s degree in service management in 1991. He also received a certificate in international tourism from the American College of Switzerland in 1980.

He brings a varied background in marketing and service management in higher education and within the travel industry. He served as director of sales for Marriott International before becoming director of Alumni Relations at RIT, holding that position from 1987 to 1998.

“During his early years at RIT, Jeff played an active role in the first RITz dinners and has remained an active member of RIT by serving on the School of Hospitality and Service Management’s Advisory Board,” says Rick Lagiewski, associate professor and current faculty advisor for the RITz Dinner.

Rowoth will be joined that evening by another special guest, George Alley, the former director of the RIT food, hotel and tourism management program, one of the original members of the department that helped launch the RITz Dinner 25-years ago.

The silver anniversary theme is Aged to Perfection. Event co-chairs, Elizabeth Lincoln and Serita Randall, undergraduate students in the hospitality and service management program, along with members of the planning team have been working on the multi-course menu and entertainment for the dinner. Individual tickets are $125 per person; a table for 10 can be purchased for $1,000. All proceeds from the event go toward the RIT Hospitality Education Fund.
