RIT alumnus makes ‘Crain’s’ 40 Under 40

Christopher Palmieri ’00 (health systems administration) was recently recognized in Crain’s New York Business as one of Crain’s 40 Under 40.

The prestigious award is given to 40 businessmen and women under the age of 40 who have achieved professional success. To receive the award, a person must be nominated online through Crain’s website. The hundreds of nominees are then judged by a panel of Crain’s editors and reporters.

Palmieri is the president of VNSNY CHOICE Health Plans, an affiliate of the Visiting Nurse Service of New York, the nation’s largest not-for-profit provider of home- and community-based health services. As president, he increased revenue for the company from $450 million when he assumed the role in 2009 to $1 billion in 2012. Palmieri oversees more than 1,200 people throughout five boroughs and Westchester and Nassau counties and his primary roles include strategic planning and performance management.

“This is such a tremendous honor being a business leader in New York City joining the likes of Kenneth Chenault, CEO of American Express; Dennis Crowley, CEO of Foursquare; and Kate Spade who have also received the award in the past,” Palmieri says.

Palmieri completed his master’s degree at RIT through the distance-learning program because it provided him with the flexibility that allowed him to complete his coursework while working full time. He says that the program helped him accelerate his career.

Under Palmieri’s leadership, VNSNY CHOICE Health Plans will expand beyond the New York metropolitan area, to all of New York state. The company is currently available to people in greater New York City area.
