A feature film with several RIT connections has left its mark on the Netflix streaming platform. The Mystery of Her hit No. 9 on the list of most downloaded films on Netflix Global Streaming last week.

Say Cheese, a pioneering, heartfelt film directed and produced by two RIT students, took home the top prize in the Coca-Cola Refreshing Films program announced during the final night of CinemaCon in Las Vegas late Thursday. The project featured the combined creative efforts of students, faculty, and staff in RIT’s School of Film and Animation and NTID.

Film and Animation students Anna McClanahan (BFA) and Gabriel Ponte-Fleary (MFA) are finalists in Coca-Cola's Refreshing Films program. They are producing what is thought to be the program's first finalist film dealing with deaf and hard-of-hearing themes.

In working with Dave Sluberski, senior lecturer in the School of Film and Animation, two local filmmakers became the first professional clients to use the sound mix theater in RIT's MAGIC Spell Studios. 

Matt Taylor '02 (film and animation - production option) was the co-supervising sound editor of a Warner Bros. sound team that won an Emmy Award for its efforts on Barry.

RIT experts will help Rochester push the edge of light- and sound-based technologies at the Light and Sound Interactive conference. The event aims to spur economic growth, as leading technologists and innovators come to Rochester for collaboration on the future of light-and-sound based technologies, applications and emerging industries.
