This course is designed to introduce or develop students’ skills in casting metals with an emphasis on cast iron and the use of a cupola. Advanced pattern-making, mold-making, sprueing, patination, and casting techniques will be introduced. Students will develop their concepts through cast metal sculpture. **A lab fee is required for this course**

This course will introduce and develop students’ skills in casting metals with an emphasis on cast iron and the use of cupola. Course content will cover advanced pattern-making, mold-making, sprueing, patination, and casting techniques will be introduced. Students will create several cast metal pieces using different mold-making materials and alloys. At the completion of this course students will be able to develop their concepts through cast metal sculpture. **Fee: There is a materials fee required for this course and an additional course fee applied via student account.
