Award-Winning Photographer and Filmmaker Lauren Greenfield Presents April 21

Lauren Greenfield is considered a preeminent chronicler of youth culture as a result of her groundbreaking book projects Girl Culture and Fast Forward: Growing Up in the Shadow of Hollywood. The award-winning photographer will give a presentation at Rochester Institute of Technology at 7 p.m. April 21 in room A205 in the College of Liberal Arts Building. The event is free and open to the public.

In 2003, American Photo named her as one of the 25 most influential photographers working today. A 1987 Harvard graduate, Greenfield started her photography career as an intern at National Geographic. Her photographs have regularly appeared in major publications including The New York Times Magazine, Harper’s Bazaar, Time and Life.

Her first feature-length documentary film, Thin, aired on HBO and is accompanied by a photography book of the same name. The film was nominated in 2007 for an Emmy for Outstanding Direction. Greenfield’s follow-up short film, Kids and Money, premiered at the American Film Institute Fest and won the Shorts Audience Award.

Greenfield’s presentation is part of the Charles Arnold Lecture Series. Arnold is a former RIT photography professor who has won national and international awards as a photographer, printmaker and xerographic artist.
