Internationally Renowned Designer to Speak at Vignelli Center for Design Studies

Pattie Moore

Universal design guru and author Pattie Moore are bringing more than 30 years of design experience to Rochester Institute of Technology’s Vignelli Center for Design Studies as part of the center’s design conversations lecture series.

The lecture, “An Evening with Pattie Moore: Designer as Ambassador,” will be from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Oct. 4 in Webb Auditorium in James E. Booth Hall at RIT. The event is free and open to the public.

Moore is a world-renowned industrial designer and gerontologist. From 1979 to 1982, Moore dressed as an elderly woman and toured several cities in the United States and Canada to gain an understanding of people, products, and environments as an elder.

“Pattie Moore has had a distinguished career in design and, through her special contributions for the elderly, has had an important impact on design for human good,” says Roger Remington, Vignelli distinguished professor of design at RIT.

Her broad range of experience includes communication design, research, product development, and design, environmental design, transportation design, market analysis and product positioning. Moore graduated from RIT in 1974 (industrial design).
