Enhanced Color Saturation
As a result of customer needs research identifying value in the production of a high color saturation capture film capable of ‘alternate looks’ in commercials, television, and features applications, Eastman Kodak Company developed enhanced color technology for inclusion in a new motion picture reversal film, KODAK EKTACHROME 100D Color Reversal Film/5285.
In this paper, background is offered into the unique color technology that makes Ektachrome 100D film so saturated in its rendition of imaged colors while conversely remaining true to flesh tones and scene neutrals. Special attention is given to the theories of color gamut and color reproduction palette as they relate to the techniques employed within this technology.
