EUREKA! 2023 Interdisciplinary Collaboration for Social Change

The ninth EUREKA! event was held October 26-28, 2023. This year's community partner was The Greater Rochester Chapter of the American Red Cross’s Disaster Action Team and Home Fire Campaign. Six interdisciplinary teams developed proposals to attract a diverse volunteer workforce for emergency response and fire safety initiatives in several City of Rochester neighborhoods. The participants represented first year through grad level students in several colleges at RIT. Our client Bernie Bowie selected the proposal of Team Crossant to be implemented in the spring of 2024. Team members included graphic designers Michelle Fu and Kennedy Inithar, and New Media designer John Curley. The team’s proposal included the creation of a distinctive promotional campaign to be delivered to community groups in the selected neighborhoods.

EUREKA! is only possible through the hard work of alumni facilitators and student team members. This year's alumni facilitators were Rebecca Julifs (Graphic Design) and Jennifer Schroll (Industrial Design). Both facilitators had participated in previous EUREKA! events. Student planning team directors for this event included graphic designers Brooklyn Hutchison, Gabi Johnston, Char Miller, and Sneha Yalgi. Thanks for everyone for making this EUREKA! event a success.
