This course is structured around a real-world design project in which the class interacts with representatives of an outside organization or an individual (the “client”) to develop design concepts. The concepts – models, drawings, etc. – created by the students are evaluated by the client for their potential for use and/or commercialization. The client for this course was Prof. Bill Brewer, a lecturer on the faculty of RIT’s College of Health Sciences and Technology. Students explored ways to combine the glucometer and insulin pump to reduce the number of products a diabetic needs to carry with them.
