International Type Throw Down! Competition
Type ThrowDown was a project initiated by Jeff Pulaski, Assistant Professor of Graphic Design at Wichita State University and Joey Hannaford, Assistant Professor of Graphic Design at the University of West Georgia, with the full blessing of Drew Roper at The Type Fight.
The goal of the project was to try and get students interested and excited about type through friendly competition with each other— and it went international, inviting schools from around the world to participate. Characters from four non-latin alphabets, Arabic, Greek, Hebrew and Sanskrit were chosen. The faculty and schools involved were: Prasad Bokil and D. Udaya Kumar, Indian Institute Guwahati, India; Carol Fillip, Rochester Institute of Technology, U.S.A.; Dalida Hadziahmetovic, Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina; Joey Hannaford, University of West Georgia, U.S.A.; Jim Hellman, Wichita State University, U.S.A.; Irma Puškarevi, University of Novi Sad, Serbia.
