Museum Without Walls

These images document an installation piece created for the University Art Museum exhibit entitled, "Site Work 1: The University Art Museum Without Walls". While the museum was being demolished for renovation, the curator used this unique opportunity to create an exhibition during construction. Thick with years of layered paint, the museum walls were torn down into large chunks. Reflecting on reconstructing the museum space, our era of cosmetic surgery and genetic engineering, I photographed and printed body parts onto the pieces of torn walls to explore how we redefine aesthetic beauty. I hung the images in the empty office of the curator, creating a haunting yet seductive atmosphere.
