Senior Capstone 2013–2014
Each Senior Capstone project represents the culmination of a student's academic experiences in RIT's Industrial Design Program. While a common set of skills unifies the class, the breadth of topics chosen by individual students demonstrates a diversity of personal interests and professional goals among the graduating class.

Una Crutch
Una Crutch allows a user to connect two crutches with a simple pin via a slot mechanism. In this way, the user can quickly go from two crutches to one, adding independence when he/she only wants to use one crutch while traveling short distances.

Modular Bus Stop System
This Modular Bus Stop System was designed specifically for small cities. The public transportation of these areas are often poorly funded and lacking sufficient amenities for users. Bus stops have been redesigned, but they have yet to be redefined with functionality at the forefront. Having a modular system allows the city to purchase the stop in sections thus eliminating the need for a large one time investment in a bus shelter. All of the parts work together to create a full stop with seating and shelter, all of this is added onto the original landmark.

Car Interior Configuration Display
Color, material, and finish choices in today’s car interiors can be overwhelming for a consumer. Furthermore material swatches do not provide the customer with adequate representation of their various options. This display system allows car dealers to provide their customers with accurate information regarding the look and feel of any combination of finishes.

CBCT Load-bearing Hip Scanner
This CBCT scanner is based off the projection of current trends in joint replacement solutions and
dProposing user experience changes to current generation CBCT extremity scanners as well as
adaptations to CBCT technology to allow for load-bearing hip imaging. 3D printing or additive
manufacturing is the process of making a 3 dimensional object by adding successive layers of a
material from a digital model. Joint replacement is surgery to remove a damaged joint and put in
a new one. A doctor called an orthopedic surgeon usually does the surgery known as an
arthroplasty. Current generations of scanners only perform dental or extremity scans and do not
have the capability for hip imaging. This is a Research and Development project proposing a
design strategy initiative for CBCT load-bearing hip imaging as well as proposed user experience
changes towards current and future generations of CBCT scanners. The proposed design strategy
is validated through the analysis of collected supporting and preliminary research towards a
projected solution.

Customizable Necktie
This project aims to reinvigorate men's fashion and provide new options for men’s wear. Men’s
fashion has existed in a similar form for many years and its options can feel limited. By
starting a healthier dialogue between fashion and design, a new evolution between the two
of them could take form, elevating both fields into accessible and interesting new levels.
Specifically, this project focuses on the necktie as a case study, creating a new system and new forms based on a classic and established piece of men’s fashion.
