Typography / GRDE 201 Calligraphy in Typography Class
Students learn so much about how alphabets and typefaces are designed from learning calligraphy.
In my Typography sections, we devote several class sessions to learning the minuscules of Italic
to provide a more thorough understanding of letterform systems and groupings and typographic principles such as stroke weight, contrast, stress, letter and word spacing and linespacing.
This foundation contributes
to a level of attention to detail
and typographic refinement
in future design projects.
